From: Dick Balaska Date: Wed, 11 Sep 1996 02:38:45 -0400 Subject: XPilotNT-0.3 (Gilligan's Island) Hi kids! I know it's not the 13th yet, and of course XPilotNT is not finished yet :( but i wanted to send this specifically to Fredrik Palmgren and decided to include y'all in this. The problem: Herr Palmgren can not connect to 3.5.0 and above servers. I need to start tracking this down, and with this release i hope to get some feedback in that area. The clues: He has dialup dynamic addressing. He has no DNS. He parts his hair on the left. bert sez that none of these 3 causes can have any effect on his inability to connect. Chris Caserio has thrown XPilot-3.4.2, XPilot-3.5.1 and XPilotNT source code through the absolutely brilliant blender known as "Sparcworks(tm)" (Colloquially called "code manager tool"). The result is XPilotNT based on XPilot-3.5.1. Hopefully, this merging will buy me more clues to solve Mr. Palmgren's potentially fatal disease. (The number of < 3.5.0 servers is shrinking daily). Other deficiencies: Score only repaints when updating. Must resize Window/quit/restart to have resize take effect. No "shiny treasure" (Having never ~seen~ this, it oughta be interesting to fix it) 256 Win95 colors dithers. The French complained about how tedious it is to try to set up the kb mappings (XpilotNT uses 'a' to turn left, which is where the French 'q' is. "Let them eat cake". (There is a config thingy in progress :) Still need better indications of what's going on whilst staring at the big white empty window. What you will see on tonight's show: Fat lasers/missiles Cloaked ships Radar (i can hear the "what? no sliding radar" whiners already) You can twiddle the colors (see XPilotNT.ini for details) More details on my Web site. This version expires 961131 XPmonNT now supports team joining and can display any field from the Meta-Server. Problem: if you ran the old version of XPmonNT, you might need to delete it's Registry Entries. WinNT comes with a Registry Editor and makes this painless. Beats me how to do it on Win95. I see the Registry is well hidden. The Registry key to delete is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/BuckoSoft/xpmonnt/Columns One solution: run the old version of XPmonNT. Shrink all of the columns to about 10 pixels wide. (Grab a column and drag it) Exit XPmonNT and then unzip the new one. If you can't resize the columns correctly, then you need to somehow purge your Registry. :( Skipper!!!!!! _,--" dik `-._ ________-_______ "---- _----'--'--------------------------------'--'----_ //_| | \ dick@buckosoft.com / | |_\\ (_____|_|__= Waterbury CT +1.203.757.6994 =__|_|_____) _\_____=___ http://www.buckosoft.com ___=_____/_ \/-(o)-~~-(o)-~~-(o)-`------'-(o)-~~-(o)-~~-(o)-\/ Early Klingon Poetry: Wustl, Wustl, ERR RIP MIT BOOTP, BIND Wustl
